Cookie policy

What Twara Kigali stores in your browser and why. Last updated: .

1. The short version

The public Twara Kigali website sets no cookies at all. It has no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no social media trackers. It does not use local storage or session storage to identify you.

Because we set nothing that requires your permission, you are not shown a cookie consent banner. A banner that asks permission for cookies that do not exist would be misleading.

2. Cookies we do set, and where

One cookie exists, and only on the staff operations dashboard at /dashboard. Customers never receive it.

twara_kigali_session. Set when a member of staff signs in. It holds a random session identifier and nothing else: no name, no email address, no permissions. It is marked HttpOnly so no script can read it, SameSite=Strict so your browser never sends it to another website, and Secure in production so it is never sent over an unencrypted connection. It expires after twelve hours, or immediately when the member of staff signs out.

This cookie is strictly necessary: without it there is no way to stay signed in. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive or under Rwanda’s Law No. 058/2021, but staff are told about it on the sign-in screen.

3. Third parties your browser contacts

These do not set cookies, but they do involve your browser connecting to another company’s servers, which reveals your IP address to that company.

Google Fonts. The public pages load the DM Sans typeface from Google’s servers. Your browser therefore sends your IP address and browser details to Google when a page loads. Google states it does not set cookies on these requests. The staff dashboard does not do this: it serves the same typeface from our own servers.

Our hosting provider. Delivering any page involves our host receiving your IP address and the page you asked for. Providers keep short operational and security logs.

There are no embedded maps, no video players, no chat widgets and no social media embeds anywhere on this website.

4. Controlling what your browser stores

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific website in its settings. Blocking cookies for Twara Kigali will not affect the public pages, because they set none. It will prevent staff from signing in to the dashboard.

5. If this changes

If we ever add analytics, advertising, or any other non-essential cookie, we will publish an updated version of this page and ask for your consent before that cookie is set. Consent will be optional, refusing will be as easy as accepting, and nothing non-essential will load until you choose.
